Thursday, May 30th

So here's what the boys did last Thursday... by "the boys," I mean Kevin, his dad, and his step-brother!

#1: More dry wall is torn down on the last wall in the kitchen.

#2: Kevin had a great idea to make a pot shelf out of the unused attic space that we've been staring at for a while... here's the start of it!

#3: Tearing up the tile has begun! The main part of the kitchen is tile free now, with the dining/desk area and the front room/hallway remaining.

I love the progress!!

Last Week's Events

Last week, Kevin tore out our old kitchen window and put in two new windows... gotta love the natural lighting!

Kevin also jackhammered the flooring in our kitchen in order to move the plumbing... yes, this is inside my house!

Back into action... for now!

Last week the greatest thing happened... we sold the motorhome! Then, in the same week we sold our kitchen appliances, so timing couldn't have been any better. I came home today to find a new look in my kitchen. Kevin took the drywall off of the back and side walls in order for our electrical work to get reconfigured, since we are planning on moving the placement of the appliances. We are also planning on putting in a second window between the original window and the french doors for more natural lighting. Another major plan is the movement of the sink! We want to put the sink/dishwasher in an island so plumbing work won't be too far around the corner... hopefully! First things first, though, once electrical is done and the second window is in, then drywall can go back up, which means ceiling work too!! That in itself will be the best thing ever... trying to keep a house cool in Arizona with a huge section of attic exposed is not the easiest thing. Can't wait for it to look like a kitchen again!

Not much has changed...

I wanted to post an update, because many have had questions as to the status of our kitchen... We are still cabinetless and counterless, however, the appliances are hooked up and we do have a sink (thanks Brian)! The garage and the pantry make excellent storage in the mean time. We have had a few different estimates on kitchen designs for us and we are still changing ideas here and there... Once our motorhome sells , "Construction Zone 2007" will be kicked back into full gear! Let me know if you or anyone you know is interested in a motorhome! Here's a current picture of our kitchen:

Our Kitchen is GUTTED!!

Yesterday, we had a garage sale and sold our kitchen cabinets and countertops. We weren't even trying to, it just happened... We still have our appliances, which we actually were trying to sell, but nothing's hooked up anymore. We are borrowing a friend's old kitchen sink so we can wash our dishes! All I have to say is it's a good thing Kev built those shelves in the garage... Take-out, anyone?

Good-Bye Kitchen...

Making More Room

This morning, our good friend, Alan the Roofer, came over to make more room on the side of the house for any big trailers, toy haulers, etc...

Raise the Roof!

Well, I guess technically it's the ceiling... I came home from work tonight to find my kitchen completely torn apart and insulation dust everywhere. As I coughed and gasped for air, I did what any wife would do... I whipped out my camera and started to capture the event! Here's just a glimpse of what I saw:

That insulation is a killer... we totalled 25+ bags of that nasty stuff!

Here is our kitchen as it stands just a few hours after the attack. The boys cleaned it up pretty well! We are so excited to have the extra space since it was only 7 inches away from Kevin's head! Now it'll be 13 inches higher! We were thinking of vaulting the whole thing to match the front part of the house, but my smart husband informed me that with the amount of money we would save by not vaulting, due to rewiring and reframing, we could re-do the entire kitchen... we already have so many different ideas!
