Tile, and Texture, and Cement... oh my!

Yesterday's events:

Kevin finished ripping up the tile in the front room and as you can see, it was not an easy job.
Everardo started texture! He finished the main kitchen area.

And, Kevin filled our giant whole with cement. When I came home, I was so interested in the texture that I didn't even notice the cement... and I was even standing on it!

Finishing up the tile!

Kevin and his dad worked a little bit on tearing the rest of the tile up today. This is in the front room of our house. All that is left after this room is the hallway. Check out their work... and Kevin's "love" note -- how sweet!

Prepped for texture!

Yesterday, Everardo and his son came and put in a full day's work to prepare the whole front of our house for texture. Doesn't it look amazing?!?

Ryan, the electrical guy, also came by and finished our outlets in the garage and patio, hung the garage lights and wired our patio for ceiling fans... all on Kevin's wish list! Here are the fans outside:

Ready for texture!

We are so ready for texture -- it's not even funny! Kevin and Kyle finished patching up all the holes today and ripping out the straight corner bead on the remaining corners. They also tore out the rest of the baseboard in the front part of the house and finished ripping the tile out of the kitchen/dining area. WOW! Tomorrow, our texture guy, Everardo, is coming first thing in the morning. He's really good if anyone is in the market for texture... Kevin said he won't finish in one day, it's just too much! Ryan, our electrician, is coming tomorrow too to finish most of the electric work! We are so excited for tomorrow!

Insulation and Drywall!

Yesterday, insulation was blown in our kitchen walls and new ceiling! Kevin got started right away with hanging up drywall. He suckered in my dad and Kyle to help! Today they got most of it finished, only leaving a spot for some final plumbing work. I am amazed how much it looks like a house again!
Kevin also built out our half wall which over doubled the thickness and made it REAL sturdy... He's a keeper!
Kevin, Kyle and I each took the hammer to the wall for some hole-y fun! Mine is the one in the center--perfectly circle!

Aire Acondicionado!

If you coudn't tell by the cognate, that is AIR CONDITIONING in Spanish... But whatever language you speak, you understand the importance of A/C in the Arizona summers! Today, we (actually Kevin and RedHead Ryan) routed the duct work into the dinning area on one side of the vault, 2 vents in the kitchen, one in the laundry and one in the pantry. I could just tell that the attic was not a place I wanted to be by their sweaty drenchedness!

It is still smoking hot in the front part of the house due to the exposed attic and lack of insulation. However, we are very close to putting up drywall!!

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Also, the Huber boys were here today and they are almost finished with all the electrical. We bought our lights, ceiling fans, outlets, light switches, etc. today and we were so excited to put in all the light bulbs to check out the brightness! We are very happy with the amount of lighting and all the lights are on dimmers incase it is too intense! Here are the pictures with our lights!

It's Electric!

We had the Huber boys over this past week to work on all the electrical stuff... moving the lines and wires and adding more to avoid any potential problems (some underground for the island). Here is our kitchen as it sits now. You can see the can lighting in its early stages. We are putting 8-10 can lights in the kitchen. We are also putting 2 can lights in the newly added pot shelf.

In the next two pictures, Kevin and Ryan cut the holes for the can lights. Pieces of drywall and insulation are everywhere! All the dust make the pictures appear as if it is snowing!

We also decided to put more lighting in the dining/desk area and the front room -- six can lights in each room. That sounds like a whole heap of can lights...

Like I said, there are holes in my walls, holes in my ceilings, wires hanging out of holes, insulation all over the floor... It's a MESS!! But, each project brings the end nearer!!
